Our Goals

01. Touch Every Paycheck

Our goal is to be the hidden backend tax and payment engine that processes payroll for 200M employees a year. We don’t want to be a direct-service payment provider, we want to empower others to create highly individualized payment products for their specific users.

02. Power Embedded Fintech

We want to enable every company to become a fintech company. We believe that payroll is a data-rich wedge that enables companies to build their next 5-10 financial products.

03. Contribute to Government 2.0

We believe that private, profitable companies can automate a lot of government’s work. We are building the most comprehensive tax-code source of truth for payroll and income taxes.

Our Culture

A few bullets to better understand our team culture

We’re a payment company, not a people company.

We focus our time on building great financial infrastructure so others can serve their users better instead of building for a direct-end business or employee.

Everyone contributes to company building and product building.

We like to ask our potential candidates “If you had 20% of free time outside you role, what would you like to do?”. Our goal is to have every team member contributes to more than just the product they are working on.

We’re an office-first company.

Every full-time employee works in or frequently visits our office in San Francisco. We believe that offices create space to build community, communicate better, and serve as an awesome space for us to work and play.

We’re huge tax and payment nerds.

We have a Slack channel called #crazypayroll where we all screenshot weird tax laws we find while updating and building our payroll engine. Our whole team then takes part in making memes on the law.

Yes, we actually really like puzzles.

We always have a puzzle in the office that our team works on together, plus a bunch of other board and video games we like to keep around the office for a fun break.
